About TestComplete Online Training

Modified on Tue, 09 Mar 2010 07:16 by stevet Categorized as AutomatedQA
TestComplete online training is 5 days, 4 hours per day.

Course Agenda

Falafel's online training is scheduled over 5 days depending on the specific course, and lasts 4 hours each day. The training is conducted over GotoMeeting, Web conferencing software, providing both VoIP and teleconferencing access. Information to connect to the meeting is provided the week prior to the training and remains in affect throughout the duration of the course. Additionally, a test of the GotoMeeting software is offered the week prior to training to ensure a smooth start and resolve any issues. The meeting software allows for clients with people in different geographical locations attend online training simultaneously.

Duration of training: Monday-Friday, depending on the course, 4 hours per day with a choice of times including 9AM-1PM PST or 1PM-5PM PST if neither time fits we're open to discussing other options.

Attendees: Up to 8 attendees are included in the base cost of the training. Additional attendees may be added though that may affect the cost of the training.

We make every effort to accomodate our clients requested dates for training however, specific dates are on a first-come-first-serve basis. We offer two time slots for online training 9AM-1PM PST or 1PM-5PM PST and if you need additional options we can work to accomodate your needs. Once scheduled, should a client wish to reschedule a training it may result in significant delays and will be affected by our current course load.

To schedule online training please contact us.

Prior to Training

Prior to online training Falafel Software will contact the client and conduct a test of the GotoMeeting software used during the training. A GotoMeeting meeting invitation will be emailed including all the necessary information to connect to the meeting. Setup of GotoMeeting is quick and easy and testing should take only a couple minutes. The same meeting information will be used throughout training making it easy to connect each day.

An Internet connection and the Internet Explorer browser is all that's needed for testing.

  • A Speaker phone or access to VoIP into the GotoMeeting conference call.
  • Internet access and Internet Explorer used to access GotoMeeting. The GotoMeeting URL and conference call information will be provided prior to the training. Setup and access to GotoMeeting is quick and easy and takes only a minute.
  • A Projector or large display connected to a PC with Internet access capable of running the GotoMeeting software.
  • Preferably each attendee should be able to connect to the GotoMeeting allowing them to optionally share their desktop and enabling the trainer to assist and resolve any issues. This requires Internet access and Internet Explorer and can be setup during the meeting if necessary.
  • Each attendee should have their own machine for use throughout the duration of the training allowing them to actively participate in the hands on labs and work with the software throughout.
  • Attendees should each have a machine with either TestComplete Enterprise or the Trial Edition installed so they can utilize the courseware and participate in the class. The Trial Edition does have some limitations but we can work around those issues for the training.

GotoMeeting Support FAQ

You should attend this class if:
  • You have worked in a QA environment and want to learn the AutomatedQA approach using TestComplete.
  • You have used TestComplete and want to make your knowledge more comprehensive.
  • You have at least some prior scripting or programming experience

TestComplete is a development environment, complete with an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) and programming languages. In this course you will not be simply clicking a few buttons and automatically recording your tests. Expect to perform development work, i.e. working with the IDE, writing script and working with relatively complex test configurations.

TestComplete Training Materials

Our TestComplete training includes a copy of TestComplete Made Easy along with the source code for all of the projects mentioned in the book. Falafel also provides additional source code used during the training to illustrate various features of TestComplete.

You can download the book directly from AutomatedQA in PDF format here.

NOTE: If you're attending the TestComplete Summit in Capitola you do not need any downloads or even a computer, all materials software and hardware will be provided for you.

Directions for Installing Course Materials

Once your training is confirmed you will be provided links to download the training materials. Follow these instructions for unzipping the source code on each attendees machine:

We recommend the following folder structure for the courseware:

  1. Download the TestComplete courseware ZIP file
  2. Unzip the file into C:\Training\Courseware
